Birth of the Card-Collecting
Committee in Guangzhou
The China Association of Collectors is the national organization of Chinese collectors, founded in 1996 and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
Within it, the Card-Collecting Committee is the professional committee dedicated to card collecting in all its forms: phonecards, transport cards, bank cards and commemorative issues.
Through exhibitions, publications and commemorative card issues, the Committee keeps the culture of card collecting alive across China, connecting thousands of collectors in the world’s largest card-issuing country.
Born in Guangzhou on 24 March 2018, the Committee carries forward a passion that runs deep in Chinese collecting culture.
1996 – 2026
In 2026 the China Association of Collectors celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of its foundation. The Worldwide Phonecards Collectors Club joins the celebrations and extends to the Card-Collecting Committee and to all its collectors the most sincere congratulations for three decades of dedication to the culture of collecting.
The friendship between the WPC Club and the Committee was born in April 2024, at the first edition of the PIM – Phonecards International Meeting, and has grown ever since into a stable partnership between our two communities. As an International Partner of the WPC Club, the Committee shares our vision: connecting collectors across continents, introducing our communities to each other, and building one international family of collectors.
The bridge between our communities lives in both directions. In China, collectors celebrate the PIM with gatherings and toasts, phonecard exhibitions keep the passion alive, and even the world’s first phonecard payphone, made in Italy by SIDA in 1976, is displayed with honour.
Collectors from China planning to visit the PIM – Phonecards International Meeting in Torino can contact the Committee directly for the event schedule, invitation letters and assistance with their trip. The Committee is the official point of contact for Chinese collectors travelling to the PIM.
Since its foundation, the Committee has issued commemorative cards celebrating its own history and Chinese collecting culture, true collector’s items issued in limited quantities.
The official catalogue of the Committee’s commemorative card issues, prepared by the Committee itself, will be published on this page.
Official website in Simplified Chinese, fully accessible from mainland China.
Membership payments with Alipay, WeChat Pay and China UnionPay, directly on our website.
Our official WeChat channel is the direct point of contact for Chinese collectors.
The Committee’s community is alive far beyond official channels: collectors themselves create spaces where the passion for card collecting is shared every day.
CARD COLLECTING CULTURE FORUM
A Chinese cultural forum entirely created and run by Chen Yunfei, a collector who is both a member of the Committee’s community and a member of the WPC Club. Founded 25 years ago, it is today the only card collecting website still active in China: a personal project where collectors share exhibitions of their collections, authorized catalogues and publications. The forum also proudly links to the WPC Club among its friendly websites.
INTERNATIONAL PARTNER NETWORK
The Card-Collecting Committee is part of a growing network of clubs,
museums and associations collaborating with the WPC Club
to connect phonecard collectors around the world.
